Location
“The City of Canterbury is a fantastic place to both live and learn. Just under an hour from London and connected by high-speed links to the UK and Europe, it’s a destination with a fascinating history and a vibrant atmosphere.”
Jude Lowson, Head of King’s
The City of Canterbury
Canterbury is home to the country’s first ever cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before that, Canterbury was a Roman settlement and later a Norman one – with the city walls and castle from that time still very much part of the landscape today.
Surrounding the city is the beautiful, green countryside of Kent; dotted with quaint villages, beautiful gardens, imposing castles, and even award-winning vineyards. You’re also just 20 minutes from the coast, with its sandy beaches, funfairs, and the world-famous white cliffs of Dover, with views across to mainland Europe.
The King’s School
The King’s School, our Senior School, sits at the heart of the city next to Canterbury Cathedral. Not far away is The King’s School International College, a purpose-built campus opened in 2018. Then follow the meandering River Stour east through the city for 2 miles, and in the peaceful village of Sturry you’ll find Junior King’s.
