The King’s Summer School offers exceptional summer school accommodation. Students live in beautiful boarding houses surrounded by centuries of history, modern facilities, and outstanding student care. Our campus creates a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for our students.
Our Accommodations 2026
Boys: Linacre House
Located within the Precincts, and overlooking the Canterbury Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site, Linacre House provides convenient access to classrooms, dining halls, and social spaces. Its central location helps students feel connected to every aspect of campus life. The surrounding grounds create a peaceful and inspiring residential setting.
Linacre House is one of our most historic boarding buildings at The King’s Summer School. This elegant Georgian property also contains elements of medieval archaeology. This is thanks to it also being the primary lodgings of a former Prior for Canterbury Cathedral. The building combines historic architecture with comfortable residential facilities for students.
Girls: Luxmoore House
Luxmoore House takes our students back in time to the medieval period with its stunningly preserved architecture. Incorporating the surviving parts of a medieval Great Chamber, this building blends historic architecture with award-winning modern design.
Its location offers excellent access to academic, leisure, and sports, as well as being next to the Canterbury Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This boarding house is named after Sir Arthur Fairfax Coryndon Luxmoore OKS, Lord Justice of Appeal.

Harvey House
Harvey House offers comfortable summer school accommodation within the historic St Augustine’s campus. The house overlooks both Canterbury Christ Church University and the famous St Augustine’s Abbey ruins.
Carlyon House
Carlyon House is a day house located near the heart of the school campus. The building includes an attractive courtyard garden and convenient access to classrooms and dining facilities. Its historic origins connect closely with The King’s Summer School’ wartime history.
Marlowe House
Marlowe House, a beautifully situated day house, siting beside the Deanery and overlooks the beautiful Green Court. Named after playwright Christopher Marlowe, the house celebrates literary and academic heritage.
Mitchinson’s House
Mitchinson’s House combines historic architecture with bright modern interior spaces. The building includes spacious communal areas and impressive glass courtyard features. This day house is conveniently located, offering convenient access to sports, art, and technology facilities.
Morpurgo House
Morpurgo House occupies a grand property within the centre of the Precincts and directly overlooking the Canterbury Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site. The accommodation features elegant historic rooms designed for study and relaxation. Dedicated residential staff provide excellent pastoral support for students.
Galpin’s House
Galpin’s House stands beside the historic Mint Yard quadrangle near the main school entrance. The house enjoys easy access to academic buildings and music facilities. Its gardens are bordered by Canterbury’s historic city walls.
The Grange
The Grange is located close to the historic At Augustine’s Abbey ruins, as well as sports fields, library facilities, and academic buildings.
The accommodation combines modern residential comfort with strong historical connections.
Tradescant House
Tradescant House overlooks the peaceful Dovecote lawn within St Augustine’s campus.
The accommodation sits beside the library and nearby boarding facilities. Students enjoy a calm residential atmosphere with excellent campus access.
School House
School House occupies a central position within the historic Mint Yard quadrangle.
The building offers excellent access to teaching facilities, dining halls, and music spaces.
Bailey House
Bailey House is situated within historic medieval towers and landscaped gardens.
The accommodation forms part of the wider St Augustine’s residential campus. Its historic surroundings create a unique boarding experience for students.
Broughton House
Broughton House occupies a beautiful historic building near the school library and chapels.
The accommodation combines impressive architecture with comfortable residential facilities. Students benefit from a welcoming and well-connected location.
Jervis House
Jervis House provides modern residential accommodation near the centre of the school campus.
The building connects directly with the Precincts through Canterbury’s historic city walls. Its convenient location supports both academic and social activities.
Kingsdown House
Kingsdown House combines contemporary design with a restored Grade II listed building.
The award-winning accommodation sits just outside Canterbury’s historic city walls.
Walpole House
Walpole House is an eighteenth-century building incorporating remains of the medieval Archbishop’s Palace. The peaceful gardens create a calm and welcoming residential environment.

All of our accommodations offer secure boarding houses within a gated campus. They offer a welcoming ‘home from home’ and include comfortable bedrooms, social spaces, and excellent on-campus dining facilities.
Our boarding houses have secure access and are equipped with modern facilities, including common rooms with TVs and games, outdoor gardens, laundry services, and full Wi-Fi coverage.
How does The King’s Summer School assign accommodation?
Students are housed separately by gender and roomed by age in carefully supervised boarding houses. Our experienced residential staff remain on hand to ensure every student feels supported throughout their stay.
Are there catering facilities for students?
Yes, healthy meals are prepared daily by our onsite catering team. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served within the school dining halls. Students receive packed lunches during excursions and off-site activities.
