Academies

Academies

In addition to language development, each student selects an academy to complement their learning during the two-week programme. A two-week programme will usually include 21 hours of English language tuition, 12 hours of Academies tuition, as well as 3 off-site excursions each week in addition to the sports and social programme.

Sports

Students can participate in various sports, with dedicated professional coaches, including, but not limited to: swimming, fencing, tennis, football, and basketball. 

These sessions provide an opportunity to try new activities, refine technical skills, develop a sense of tactics, and improve one’s ability to work as part of a team. Students will also compete in friendly matches, developing camaraderie and a sense of fair play.

International Relations

Designed for students with a B2 level (upper intermediate) or higher in English, this academy explores subjects like globalisation, sustainability, international finance, and politics. 

Lectured by researchers and industry professionals, students engage in debates on pressing global issues like environmental protection, leadership, and justice.

Music

The Music Academy is designed for students looking to develop their musical ability and have fun doing so. They take part in solo and group sessions, honing their abilities and developing themselves as musicians.

The programme culminates in a class performance, giving students the opportunity to showcase their progress in a supportive environment.

Pre-University Preparation

Aimed at older students (typically 15-17), this academy provides insights into university life, helping students explore educational options and prepare for the application process. Students will attend workshops with university lecturers, participate in campus tours, and experience university-style learning.

Art and Design

The Art and Design Academy offers students the chance to explore painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media.
 
Professional tutors guide both individual and group projects, helping students develop technical skills and creative confidence. Studio sessions encourage experimentation and personal expression, while portfolio development supports future applications to art schools or creative programmes.

IELTS Preparation and Exam

This academy prepares students for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, essential for studying in English-speaking countries.
 
Lessons focus on Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, with tailored guidance to improve strengths and address weaknesses. Students benefit from mock exams, practical exercises, and strategies to approach each section confidently and achieve their desired results.
 

Foundation in STEM

The Foundation in STEM Academy introduces students to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on experiments and projects.
 
Students develop problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking skills while applying knowledge to real-world challenges. The programme encourages curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking, preparing students for future study or careers in STEM.

Business and Entrepreneurship

This academy gives students practical experience in business, leadership, and innovation.
 
Through workshops, case studies, and student-led projects, participants develop teamwork, strategic thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. Tutors and industry professionals provide guidance, helping students turn ideas into ventures and understand the workings of the global business world.
