Hello again, dear parents! We are excited to bring you the highlights of Day 3 of our incredible summer programme at King’s Canterbury. Today was filled with historical exploration, breath taking views, and a variety of engaging activities.
Visiting Dover Castle
Our day began with an early start as the students eagerly boarded the coaches bound for Dover Castle, one of England’s most iconic and historic landmarks. The drive to Dover was filled with anticipation, as students chatted about the day’s upcoming adventures.
Exploring the Wartime Tunnels and Historic Castle
Upon arrival, students were captivated by the imposing structure of Dover Castle, standing proudly atop the White Cliffs of Dover. The tour commenced with a fascinating exploration of the wartime tunnels, where students learned about the castle’s pivotal role during World War II. The guides shared riveting stories about the secret operations conducted within these tunnels, igniting the imaginations of our young explorers.
After an enlightening morning, it was time for a delightful picnic on the grass atop the White Cliffs of Dover. With the stunning backdrop of the English Channel, students enjoyed their packed lunches and then ventured into the historic castle itself. They marvelled at the medieval architecture, climbed the towers, and soaked in the panoramic views.
Return to Campus and Swimming Lessons
In the afternoon, the students returned to King’s Canterbury, where the fun and excitement continued. At the King’s School Sports Centre, swimming lessons were the highlight. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, students improved their swimming techniques and had fun splashing around.
Sports, Arts, and Music
For those preferring land-based activities, the options were plentiful. Students participated in football, basketball, and badminton matches, showcasing their athletic skills and team spirit. Meanwhile, others immersed themselves in creative pursuits such as arts and music all before a delicious dinner and evening of relaxation and games.
