Music Academy

Our Music Academy at The King’s Summer School offers students an immersive experience in music. This academy is designed to help students refine their talents, build confidence, and develop creative expression.

The academy focuses on technical development, musical understanding, and collaboration. All in a supportive and creative environment designed to encourage progress and creativity.

Please Note: This academy is for students with a minimum skill level of grade 4 or equivalent in an instrument or singing. This requirement ensures students benefit fully from focused tuition and ensemble work.

About our Music Academy

The Music Academy offers an immersive learning experience centred entirely on musical development. Students strengthen technique while exploring interpretation, accuracy, and musical style.

The programme combines structured learning with creative musical exploration. Through guided sessions, the Music Academy develops essential practice habits and rehearsal techniques. Students learn how to practise efficiently, developing independence and long-term musical growth.

How We Teach Music

We develop individual skills, teach our students how to apply those skills as part of a group, and then teach the group to apply itself to a full performance. Together, these learning stages create a well-rounded, engaging, and fun learning experience that our students treasure.

This teaching process is broken down into three consecutive stages:

  • Solo and Group Work: Students engage in both individual practice and ensemble performances. This balances personal skill alongside teamwork and coordination.
  • Performance Development: Coaching sessions focus on stage presence, technical precision, and interpretation of musical pieces.
  • Class Performance: The programme concludes with a final performance where students showcase all the progress they have made.

Expert Music Tuition

The music and performance academy is taught by experienced musicians who provide insights into technique, co-operation, and personal development. We also allow for additional learning opportunities for students with specific interests to allow for unique and expressive performances.

Lessons encourage discipline, curiosity, and musical confidence, all under the mentorship of our expert music teachers. These teachers strive to build and build upon a strong foundation of skills, ready for further development once our students finish their time at our academy.

An Ensemble Performance to Remember

We conclude our Music Academy with a class performance, allowing students to demonstrate how far they have improved during their time with us. It fosters confidence in their abilities, both individually and as part of a group, as well as laying the groundwork for further performances in the future.

We strive to ensure that our students leave our academy supported in both their academic and creative development.
